Catchup: Oracle WebLogic Server 12c Launch
If you somehow missed last week's Unveiling Oracle WebLogic Server 12c webcast:
- Oracle WebLogic Server 12c – Executive Overview, with Hasan Risvi
- Oracle WebLogic 12c – Developer Deep Dive, with Will Lyons
Will Lyons at UKOUG
Will Lyons from the WebLogic Server Product Management team, traveled this week to UKOUG 2011 in sunny Birminngham and delivered the first in person presentation on WebLogic Server 12c.
WebLogic Server 12c - 5 Mins with the Developer Zip File
Yours truly recorded a quick 5 minute screen cam of getting the WebLogic Server 12c Developer Zip file distribution up and running. The zip file distribution in the 12c release has been reduced to 164MB in size, which is a significant reduction from the 11g release. For those of you like me on, shall I say slow networks, this is a real help when getting started WebLogic Server.
Arun Gupta the well known Java EE 6 and GlassFish evangelist also has a blog posting showing how to get started with the WebLogic Server 12c Zip File Distribution. http://blogs.oracle.com/arungupta/entry/get_started_with_oracle_weblogic
Automating Remote Deployment to Oracle WebLogic from Hudson
Duncan Mills from the Hudson PM team blogs about his approach to deploying applications generated as Hudson jobs to a remote WebLogic Server instance for testing. Duncan shows the use of a shell script approach to invoke weblogic.Deployer to deploy the application and offers some insight on how to conceal the administrator username and password required to initiate the deployement operation.http://blogs.oracle.com/groundside/entry/automating_remote_deployment_to_oracle
WebLogic Server 12c - Deploying GlassFish Applications
A small but interesting feature coming in WebLogic Server 12c is the ability to deploy web applications developed for GlassFish, where a group of common settings specified in the GlassFish deployment descriptor are read and automatically applied to the application when it runs on WebLogic Server.
WebLogic Server 12c - Maven Plugin
The WebLogic Server 12c release has an updated Maven plugin, which provides an additional set of goals to provide a broader scope of coverage for operational types of activities. For example the new wls-maven-plugin supports install, create-domain, start|stop-server, wlst and appc goals which can be linked together to execute the construction of a complete environment for developing and testing applications.
Markus Eisele provides an overview and some examples of using it on his blog: http://blog.eisele.net/2011/12/installing-and-using-new-weblogic-12.html
There's also some raw usage notes on the Buttso Blathers that describe some of the thinking and examples of using the new goals. http://buttso.blogspot.com/2011/12/weblogic-server-12c-maven-usage-notes.html
