Oracle In-Memory Advisor now available

Oracle In-Memory is such a great feature - but often the challenge you'll face is the tricky question:
Which of your tables and/or partitions should you mark for In-Memory column store availability?

And the answer is now easier to find as the new In-.Memory Advisor is available via download from MyOracle Support:

The Advisor produces a report identifying the objects that should be placed In-Memory for maximum benefit, along with a SQL*PLUS script which implements those recommendations. It can be run on Oracle Database 11.2.0.3 and above. And of course the recommendations can be implemented on Oracle Database 12.1.0.2. (and newer).

Important to know: The In-Memory Advisor is licensed as part of the Database Tuning Pack.

Further information can be found at: OTN

In case you have obtained a pre-release version of the Advisor, please discard it and replace it with the production version

Beijing, Seoul - and OTN Tour Tokyo - just in one week

Uhhh ... next week will be a tough traveling experience. 19870 km (12347 mi), all in cattle class on 4 different airlines.

Picture rights remain at The New York Times

I tried to avoid Lufthansa as they canceled recently flights I heavily relied on - with no reason! And there's still a huge risk of announcing just their 9th strike within a year and a bit.

But I'm really looking forward to the workshops, to see all the colleagues, customers and of course some great friends. Roy and I will do two internal two-day workshops in Beijing and Seoul with each more than 50 participants - and we'll include a nice hands-on-experience as well. And mid-week I'll head out to Tokyo to present at the DB TECH SHOWCASE 2014 - which is part of the OTN ACE Tour.

CU soon - thanks!!!

Slides for the OTN LAOUC 2014 Tour

Roy has done the OTN Tour 2014 in Brazil, Peru and Chile this week - and I will fly out on the weekend towards Argentina to present at the OTN Tour in Buenos Aires, and afterwards in Montevideo in Uruguay.

In case you would like to download the slide decks (even though we would recommend to download the big slide deck) please find them in the Slides Download Center to the right.

CU next week (if I can unfold my legs after an almost 14 hour flight with my dear friends from Lufthansa)!

OTN Tour South America: Uruguay, Argentina & Brazil

I really don't look forward to a 20 hour trip in coach from Munich to Montevideo, Uruguay. But I'm looking forward to meet and see many tech folks in Montevideo, Buenos Aires and Sao Paolo during the next week. Roy and I will deliver a Hands-On-Lab in Montevideo on Monday and in Buenos Aires on Wednesday. Plus presentations on Tuesday, Thursday and finally Saturday in Sao Paolo. Well, and our colleagues in Brazil have taken the chance to schedule 3 customer visits in Rio and Sao Paolo on Friday in between :-) After this week I will need a few days off :-)

Here's the link to the event on August 5 and 6, 2013 in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Then we'll move on with the ferry boat crossing the Rio Della Plata to Buenos Aires for August 7 and 8, 2013.

And finally we'll be in Sao Paolo on August 10, 2013.

So again, here's the overview:

CU there :-)
