Oracle Database 11g Release 2 for Windows available!

Hi there,

just returned from vacation - and the Easter bunny (was its name Tux??) just delivered the Windows release (32bit and 64bit) of Oracle Database 11g Release 2. It's available for download from edelivery.oracle.com or OTN:

And if you wonder yourself why it took sooooooo long to release Oracle Database 11g Release 2 on the Windows platform: The developers have incorporated a lot of the available fixes on top of 11.2.0.1.0 - so it's more a 11.2.0.1.1/2 ;-)

And don't forget to download the newest version of rhe upgrade slides:

Use the keyword (Schluesselwort): upgrade112

Comments:

Great news! I can't wait to download and use it today!

We plan to run Oracle 11gR2 on Windows Server 2008R2. Do you know when the Enterprise Manager Grid Control Management Agent will be certified on Windows Server 2008R2? Thanks, Heather

Hi Heather, unfortunately I don't have any insight view into GC Agents certification. Please raise an SR with Oracle Support - they will be able to gather an approximation for you. Thanks and regards Mike

Why links goes to technet and not on Edelivery ? On Edelivery it's not available!!! For all version the sample schemas are missing on edelivery!!

Thanks Francois! Unfortunately I have no control on what's uploaded to eDelivery - but I have both links there ;-)

The files are not yet available on edelivery. Oracle may refuse support in case of production issues if the software was downloaded from technet (and not from edelivery). Is this correct or just a canard?

The files are not yet available on edelivery.oracle.com. Is it correct that Oracle may refuse support for files downloaded from technet if there are production problems? Or is it just a canard that files must be downloaded from edelivery?

As I keep saying in my seminars: edelivery is the official way. But unfortunately I have no control on what has uploaded to either edelivery nor OTN. Please file an SR to let support know about missing pieces. Thanks!

Guys anybody noticed this problem.... both the download links (File 1 and File 2) redirect to http://www.oracle.com/errors/404.html :(

Hi Anonymous, first of all: sorry for the inconvenience - but I have no control on OTN :-( The files work now but you'd better use the download link mentioned several times on the blog: apex.oracle.com/folien and use the keyword "upgrade112". Thanks and kind regards Mike
