World record TPC-C numbers with Tuxedo and Oracle Database
By Todd Little on Dec 06, 2010
I'll come back to TSAM SLA monitoring in my next post, but I wanted to make sure everyone was aware of the new TPC-C benchmark results that Oracle announced last week. The previous record had been held by IBM at around 10M tpmC. Last week we announced a new record of 30,249,688 tpmC or roughly 500,000 transactions per second. This was done with Tuxedo as the transaction monitor. To give you an idea of this volume, Amazon.com sees about 65 million visitors each month. If every visitor placed an order, the Tuxedo system used in the benchmark could process the entire month's orders in 2 minutes, or an entire year of orders in under 25 minutes!
If you think you have business problem that requires more than 500,000 transactions per second, I'd like to hear about it.
