T2000 Teaser

What has Thin Guy been up to?  Here's a hint.

Thats great....

Now how much memory was in that T2000? And do you have similar graphs for a x4100? :-)

An 8 core T2000 Starts @ 14K (only $8K for a similar T1000). A 2x275 x4100 would be $5k.

I'm now working on the annual budget, and need to figure out how many clients (CAM running the windows terminal server client) a single server can support.

Hi John,
I've been doing some pretty rigorous testing and will publish all the results on this blog very soon.

The box as it stands now has 32 GB, with this many users 16GB would be fine, given that you are not running "multihead" Sun Ray setups.

We've been through quite of few iterations of memory sizing, starting with 8 GB.

I've got a good based line for what's required memory standpoint for a full screen windows session and that should really help folks with their sizing/planning data.

Yes dual 4100 servers would be cheaper. But there are other things to consider such SWAP cost, application availability (no Citrix client for Solaris x86), number of servers you want to manage (although that's not really an issue in CAM).

I plan on running the same "how man frat boys can you fit inside a Volkswagen" on a few different servers.

170 active users (yes they are all doing stuff) is pretty amazing on a single socket wouldn't you say?

Stay tuned and thanks for visiting.
