What Developers Want: China's SDN Manager John Jiang

John Jiang, Manager of SDN in China

I met John last year in Menlo Park when he attended our worldwide group meeting and congratulated him for putting the Sun Developer Network websitesinto the Chinese language for the benefit of the Chinese developer.

His whole job is to figure out what the Chinese developer wants and to deliver it, and here's what he thinks:

"I think the developer wants free tools, open source technology, and most important they want training and support."

Most of the talks cover open source, each and every speaker will address that."

I also asked John about the mobile development market in China:

"Yes, mobile is a big market in China, even three year old little kids in kindergarden carry cell phones, so there are a lot of opportunities for development in his space, definitely. In terms of developer education we still need to do a lot of work to get more developers working on mobile phones to provide more mobile applications."

"So someday you'll be starting with the kindergartners, then...

"Absolutely!"
