Oracle OpenWorld Healthcare Integration Session Highlights Challenges & Solutions

In today’s session co-presented by Steve Schenks, Integration Architect from Ascension Health and Oracle’s Sundar Shenbagam and Suresh Sharma (apparently your initials must be SS to present during this session), interesting insights in many different areas including Steve’s descriptions of the challenges with their previous environment:

Challenges prior to SOA

Disparate hardware and software is an issue common across healthcare and most other industries…Larry Ellison spoke on this topic during Sundays’ keynote address.

Anticipated features from SOA

In the last part of session, Suresh is planning to go over some of the best practices and lesson learned to implement successful healthcare applications and will discuss the different options to model Sequencing (FIF0) use cases (one of most common use cases in the provider market).

The session was “Implementing Successful Healthcare Applications with Oracle SOA Suite” – Session # CON8546. For more information about this session, please contact Senior Principal Product Manager Suresh Sharma

Extreme Performance and Scale Delivered by SOA on Oracle Exalogic

Demands to incorporate internet-scale applications, data, and social media traffic with existing IT infrastructure require extreme availability, reliability, and scalability. In this session on industrial-strength SOA, learn how Oracle Exalogic and Oracle Exadata engineered systems address these requirements.

Topics covered:

(1) how SOA and BPM benefit from “hardware and software engineered for each other,”

(2) how Oracle Exadata provides the data tier with unparalleled scalability and performance for SOA and BPM running on Oracle Exalogic

(3) customer case studies

(4) best practices and topology guidelines

(5) information on tools that help operate, manage, provision, and deploy—to help reduce overall TCO. Extreme engineering at its best!

Session details: 10/2/12 (Tuesday) 11:45 AM - Moscone South -308

Amtrak's Mobile-SOA Oracle SOA Solution at OpenWorld

During yesterday's Mobile SOA Session, Innowave presented their ticketing solution implemented for Amtrak which uses Oracle SOA Suite for service-enablement with support for Microsoft Windows Mobile handheld devices.  Innowave's Hilal Khan described this chart and highlighted the value of a service-based approach since the data went to handhelds as well as to APEX reports with a single service implementation:

Mobile-SOA Integration by Oracle SOA Suite Customer Agilent

I attended an excellent session by Oracle SOA Suite customer Rajesh Gathwala from Agilent.  He said most mobile vendors have their own embedded toolsets but the problem arises when you have too many of these disparate toolsets in the organization..."How many toolsets do you want?".  He highlighted his solution which standardizes on Oracle SOA Suite for integration including mobile.  Here is a screenshot describing how the integration includes Oracle eBusiness Suite, Oracle Service Bus and the security solution from his presentation:

You can see a video of Rajesh speaking about Agilent's Oracle SOA Suite implementation from last years OpenWorld (prior to his mobile integration).
