BigAdmin Community Article: Bare-Metal Restore for Solaris 10 OS

A community-submitted article walks you through a bare-metal restore using Veritas NetBackup by Symantec and an x86 server with the Solaris 10 OS. In this scenario, a ZFS root file system was used on the original system disk.

This new release offers full support for the latest SPARC and x86 systems. The OS is free and easy to install on 1000+ systems from leading vendors, and it incorporates open networking. The updated FAQs on the OpenSolaris site point to the Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) on BigAdmin.

Updated: x86 Installation Check Tool for Solaris 10 OS

This tool detects whether your x86 system is able to run the Solaris 10 OS. Version 1.6 loads the Solaris 10 5/09 kernel, and the driver database has been updated with new Solaris device drivers.
