Rock star Neil Young has been working on Linc Volt, his entry into the Automotive X Prize competition. Competitors will devise fuel-efficient vehicles that can get 100 miles per gallon on a race from California to Washington D.C. in 2010. Perrone Robotics, maker of autonomous vehicle Tommy Junior, has installed sensors on the car that use Java technology, allowing the Linc Volt team to monitor the car's performance elements during its travels. This data is displayed on a touch-screen panel in the car. Learn more on java.com.
