NetBeans Demo Camp in Munich

If you're anywhere near Munich, Germany, join us for the first NetBeans Demo Camp. The camp will focus on NetBeans Rich Client Platform. Companies and individuals will show products based on the platform and share their experiences. Celebrate NetBeans' 10th birthday, together with NetBeans Guru Geertjan Wielenga, the Dream Team, and members of the NetBeans Community, at this free event packed with information and cool demos.

NetBeans IDE 6.5 Beta Available

The NetBeans community is pleased to announce the availability of NetBeans IDE 6.5 Beta.

The NetBeans IDE 6.5 Beta release provides several new features and enhancements, such as a new IDE-wide QuickSearch shortcut, a more user-friendly interface, and automatic Compile on Save.

In addition to full support for the Java platform (Java SE, Java EE, Java ME), the NetBeans IDE is the ideal tool for software development with PHP, C/C++, Groovy and Grails, Ruby and Rails, Ajax and JavaScript. NetBeans IDE 6.1 Released

You can now download NetBeans IDE 6.1.

In NetBeans IDE 6.1, we improved performance (40% faster start-up) and we extended scripting language support beyond Java technology by providing a rich set of features for C/C++, JavaScript and the Ruby language, including Ruby on Rails.

The NetBeans Installer now also includes an Early Access preview of NetBeans for PHP developers. Use the Plugins manager to get additional functionality such as a JavaScript debugger, support for ClearCase file versioning, AXIS web services, and the Hibernate framework.

NetBeans IDE 6.1 adds to the improvements made in version 6.0: the new smarter editor, next generation of the ground-breaking GUI builder (formerly known as Project Matisse), visual mobile designer, integrated profiler, Mercurial file versioning, and Java EE 5 support.

Innovators Grant: Submission Deadline Extended!

There is still time to submit a proposal for the open-source project of your dreams–and be awarded a grant (US$ 11,500 or 2,000!) for implementing it!

Bruno Souza announced that the submissions deadline was extended to this Friday (March 7, 2008) to allow more countries to participate. We already got over 100 submissions for innovative plugins, programming books, localization projects, and web and desktop applications. I really look forward to see them become reality, you guys and girls out there have great ideas!
