Oracle Solaris Cluster 4.0 and Oracle Solaris 11 Software Supported on Third Party Storage


Oracle Solaris Cluster software can be used with different storage
technologies such as FC, SCSI, iSCSI and NAS on Oracle storage and
third party storage. There is also support for highly available
Oracle Solaris ZFS, POSIX compliant cluster file system, raw disk
access to cluster-wide global devices and volume managers. Oracle
Solaris Cluster software provides the highest levels of data
integrity and availability using innovative fencing and quorum
technologies.  Oracle Solaris Cluster software has a validation tool
called OSCATE (Oracle Solaris Cluster Automated Test Environment)
that is used to verify that the storage under test meets all the
requirements for successful integration with the Oracle Solaris
Cluster product. It has a combination of functional, load tests and
real world fault injection scenarios to ensure end-to-end
availability of the entire stack all the way from applications to
storage.


Third party storage partners are diligently working towards becoming
certified with Oracle Solaris Cluster 4.0 and Oracle Solaris 11
software.  Partners now certified are EMC, Hitachi Data Systems,
HP/3PAR, IBM and NEC.  Certification is essential prior to
deployment in a production environment.  Completing the stringent
set of test requirements dictated by OSCATE provides customers with
choices of supported third-party storage arrays and confidence that
should any issue arise, they will be supported by both parties.


Support for the Oracle Solaris ZFS file system with EMC SRDF, a
storage-based replication option, is also now available for use with
Oracle Solaris Cluster Geographic Edition. The following
configurations are supported on Oracle Solaris Cluster 4.0 with EMC
SRDF:


Geographic Edition

Geographic Edition + ZFS

Geographic Edition + campus cluster

Geographic Edition + campus cluster + ZFS

Announcing Release of Oracle Solaris Cluster 4.0!

We are very happy to announce the release of Oracle Solaris Cluster 4.0, the first release providing High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) capabilities for Oracle Solaris 11. This release comes within a few of the weeks of the release of Solaris 11.


Oracle Solaris Cluster 4.0 offers the best availability for enterprise applications with instant system failure detection for fastest service recovery. It includes out-of the box support for Oracle database and applications such as Oracle WebLogic Server and is pre-tested with Oracle Sun servers, storage and networking components. It is optimized to leverage the SPARC SuperCluster redundancy and reliability features and delivers the high availability infrastructure for the Oracle Optimized Solutions.


Oracle Solaris 11 Oracle Solaris Cluster on Solaris 11 offers an unified installation experience leveraging the Oracle Solaris Image Packaging System (IPS) for all the benefits that it bring. These include error-free software updates, automatic patch dependency resolution and automated installer for easy multi-node installation.
