SC3.2 Beta...come share the excitement!
By mkb on Oct 11, 2006
I have had the opportunity to be the Engineering point of contact for Sun Cluster 3.0 beta, before the product was first shipped in Dec 2001. Five years later, I am seeing the same buzz around SC3.2! I feel priviledged to be coordinating the beta on the engineering side again, the second time around! These 7 years with the Clustering Team has been my longest stint with any product group. Its the technology and the team that has kept me going!
We started the Sun Cluster 3.2 beta in June '06 and have about 90 beta evaluators so far. The response has been very positive and we have got constructive feedback from the evaluators so far. Check out Robert's blog dated 21st Sept,2006. Robert has some very kind words to say about the functionality and the support he got! Based on the response from the community, we decided to extend beta and do a beta refresh end of the month.
The feature set for 3.2 is very compelling. There is very strong integration with the Solaris OS and this releases offers the latest technologies in the OS, e.g., ZFS , NFSV4, Containers , SMF. There is much more to it. Stay tuned to hear more about the 3.2 features from the experts themselves, in the next weeks.

Feel free to contact Eric Redmond (firstname.lastname@example.org) to get on to the beta. He is the anchor behind the program!
