Previewing the PLM Summit

We are just a few days away from the PLM Summit, taking place February 4-6, 2013 at the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero in San Francisco, and we have some great things in store for our attendees. It is going to be an action-packed 2 1/2 day event. Read on to find out more about the customer presentations and networking activities that we have in store for you, or download the updated PLM schedule here:

Monday, February 4: Registration, Opening General Session and Networking

Registration opens at 1pm on Monday at the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero, so make sure to allow yourself enough time to pick up your badge before the first opening session. The first big keynote of the day will be from Rick Jewell, Senior Vice President of Applications Development at Oracle, who will discuss Oracle's value chain vision. He will be followed by legendary football broadcaster, John Madden, who I'm sure will have some entertaining analysis following the Super Bowl (go Niners!!). After John Madden's keynote, from 5:30pm-7pm, attendees will get their first opportunity to network with all of our Oracle partners and to check out the many Oracle demo stations. Enjoy the night, but don't stay out too late as we have a full day of educational sessions and stories for you on Tuesday!

Tuesday, February 5: General Sessions, AGILITY Awards, Partner Networking and Oracle Demo Pods

Breakfast starts bright and early at 7am, with our first keynote of the day starting at 8:00am. Jon Chorley, Oracle's Chief Sustainability Officer and Vice President, Supply Chain Management, will kick off the day with a presentation on the sustainable value chain. Following Jon will be presentation by economist and former U.S. Secretary of Labor, Robert Reich. After this keynote, attendees will head to their individual product general sessions. In the PLM General Session, John Kelley, VP of PLM Product Strategy will discuss Agile PLM's product strategy and roadmap, followed by presentations from PLM partners Deloitte and Kalypso. We will be wrapping up this general session by announcing our 2013 Oracle Excellence in PLM AGILITY Awards. We look forward to recognizing several of our customers with this award.

One of the suggestions we received following last year's PLM Summit is that there was not enough networking time for customers, so we've made sure to allow for plenty of networking time this year, so be sure to take advantage of it. During lunches and breaks, be sure to visit with all of our PLM partners, including KPIT, Deloitte, Kalypso, IBM, GoEngineer, Perception Software, Hitachi Consulting, Domain, Verdant, PLM XL by Xavor and ZeroWaitState. And make sure to visit our PLM demo pods--we have pods covering PLM for High Tech/Semi, PLM for LifeSciences and PLM for Process and Consumer Goods. In addition, don't miss our demo pods covering Fusion Product Hub and AutoVue.

Learn How PL Developments is Leveraging Oracle Value Chain Solutions to Optimize Their Supply Chain

The flu season is upon us once again and I'll bet that most of you have spent some time in the cold and flu aisle at your neighborhood Walgreens or CVS pharmacies checking out the variety of medication available. Have you heard of PL Developments? They are a leading organization in the life sciences domain that produces many of these cold and flu medicines. Tom Crowe, CIO of PL Developments will be a featured speaker in one of our PLM track sessions, Integrated Business Planning: New Product Management and Forecasting (Weds Feb 6, 2:15-3pm). Read the blog below, authored by guest blogger Priya Mokha, Director of Client Development at KPIT, and see how KPIT has enabled PL Developments to optimize their supply chain.

New Products Management and Forecasting Helped PL Developments Achieve a Robust Supply Chain

by Priya Mokha, Director of Client Development, KPIT

PL Developments partnered with KPIT to manage and forecast new products using Oracle Agile Product Lifecycle Management and Oracle Value Chain Planning. This year at the Oracle Value Chain Summit, Tom Crowe, CIO from PL Developments and KPIT recount the success story – a story that can inspire many to use cutting-edge Oracle technology to stay ahead of the curve.

PL Developments is a fast growing wholesale distributor of over-the-counter pharmaceutical products to big box retailers like CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, and Target. To ensure that these medicines reach the counters before a disease reaches you, PL Developments has built an automated, low-cost, optimized supply chain using Oracle Value Chain applications including both Process and Discrete Manufacturing, Agile PLM, Demantra and ASCP synchronized together, and Warehouse Management All-in-One (software, scanners, labels, label printers). With a phased approach, the pharmaceutical giant has focused on getting the system up and running, then adding VCP and VCE tools, and finally optimizing the system to provide true value.

We all know that in today’s fast paced and highly competitive markets, companies are introducing new products at a faster pace and with shorter product lifecycles. Product profitability and market sustainability are aspects that a company must strive for to maintain its competitive advantage. This can be possible only when a company has the ability to manage and forecast product entries and market exits effectively. PL Developments achieved all these with Oracle technology and the robust partnership with KPIT – an Oracle Platinum Partner.

At this year’s inaugural Value Chain Summit, be sure to attend the session with PL Developments and the experts from KPIT on New Product Management and Forecasting from an Integrated Business Planning perspective. The speakers will present challenges, methods, solutions approach and also feature PL Developments’ success story where KPIT deployed a solution to manage and forecast new products using Oracle Product Life Cycle Management and Value Chain Planning Suite.

Some of the key takeaways from this session are:

  • NPI Management: Product Lifecycle Management Perspective
  • NPI Forecasting: Value Chain Planning Perspective
  • NPI Management and Forecasting at PL Developments

·         Be there on Wednesday, February 6th, 2:15 pm – 3:00 pm in the PLM Track to hear this fascinating success story: Integrated Business Planning: New Product Management and Forecasting presented by Tom Crowe, CIO, PL Developments, Sushant Sawant, Director VCP, KPIT and David Bartlett, Sr. Director, PLM & MDM, KPIT.

Enterprise Visualization for Agile PLM During the PLM Summit 2013

We have so many great sessions and fascinating presentations coming up in February at the PLM Summit 2013! (Hosted during the Oracle Value Chain Summit). We're all getting very excited to see everyone and hear the new stories our customers have to share about their accomplishments, lessons learned, vision, and more.

And if you haven't seen it yet, there will be two interesting sessions specifically about AutoVue Enterprise Visualization as it relates to Agile PLM.  Celine Beck, Manager of Product Management & Strategy at Oracle, posted these two entries in the AutoVue Enterprise Visualization Blog that I think are worth repeating.  Here they are:

Seeing the Forest – Next Generation Visualization

By Celine Beck. January 9, 2013.  Original Post

The biggest challenge that we have as enterprise users is to quickly find the information we need in order to make the most optimal business decisions on a daily basis. Now, the challenge is that information is there, somewhere, but it is typically distributed across a mass of data and screens. So how do you “see” this information quickly and easily? How can we present “less” while delivering “more”? That is the objective of Oracle’s Next Generation Visualization, which will be presented at the Oracle Value Chain Summit (San Francisco, Feb 4-6, 2013) during a session entitled “Seeing the Forest – Next Generation Visualization” (Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 3:15 pm). It is not about new skins and layouts, it is about a radical re-think of how Enterprise Applications should interact with users. The session will show how Oracle Fusion Applications is embracing new paradigms for presenting, interpreting and interacting with complex business information in a simplified and compelling way so that they can see the forest through the trees! Don’t miss this opportunity to get exclusive sneak peeks at ground-breaking technology! We look forward to seeing you in San Francisco!

Visual Decision Making to Optimize PLM New Product Development & Introduction

By Celine Beck.  January 16, 2013. Original Post

The Oracle Value Chain Summit (Feb 4-6, 2013 in San Francisco) is just around the corner and the AutoVue team will be there for this great customer event! We will have a session devoted to Visual Decision Making during which attendees will learn from one of the world's top full-service semiconductor foundries how they have streamlined their design for manufacturing process, reduced cycle times and enabled more effective and secure collaboration thanks to their implementation of Oracle’s AutoVue for Agile.

Presenters will discuss the positive impact of document visualization within Agile PLM on innovation and product development cycles, and explain how visualization integrated with PLM enables more effective cross-department collaboration practices without jeopardizing critical intellectual property. Attendees will also see how organizations can further extend the value of their Agile PLM investment by leveraging innovative visualization solutions like Augmented Business Visualization. Don't miss us at the Oracle Value Chain Summit and see you in San Francisco!
