Meet a Living Legend at Moscone West
By Mharrist-Oracle on Oct 02, 2012
Sean has flown more than 1,000 performances at more than 425 air shows, in front of more than 80 million fans. During this season, Tucker and Team Oracle will entertain nearly 10 million fans at 15 shows throughout North America.
Between the photo opportunities and hat signings at Moscone West, Sean talked with Oracle OpenWorld NewsCentral about his career.
NewsCentral: Welcome to Oracle OpenWorld. One of your fans in line called you a “living legend.” What do you think of that?
Tucker [with a smile]: The operative word is living. I don’t mind being a legend as long as I keep living.
NewsCentral: Well, your fans seem to like meeting the legend. They’re keeping you busy.
Tucker: It’s a big week for me because we’ve got OpenWorld, and I still have to prepare for the Fleet Week air show. I’ve got to practice three times a day to be tuned up and ready to go.
NewsCentral: Throughout the year, you maintain an extremely busy schedule of flight practices, physical training more than 340 days annually, and all the air shows and appearances. How do you do it?
Tucker: Well, number one, I love my work. After more than 30 years, I’m still learning my craft, and my airplane is a phenomenal, technological wonder. It’s enabling me to push my boundaries. And so, I’m delighted when I get to fly this machine.
NewsCentral: That love certainly shows through in your performances.
Tucker: For the last 12 years, I’ve been sponsored by Oracle, and it has been the greatest ride of my life.
Come meet Sean D. Tucker on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Moscone West.
