Larry Ellison Opens Oracle OpenWorld with Announcements that Exemplify Oracle’s Unique IT Approach

Oracle CEO Larry Ellison opened Oracle OpenWorld 2012 Sunday night by explaining how Oracle is taking a fundamentally different approach to delivering technology engineered to work together—ultimately changing the face of IT.
Ellison introduced four new products:
- Infrastructure as a service, providing virtual compute and storage services
- Oracle-owned and managed private cloud, providing an extension of Oracle Cloud behind customers’ firewalls
- A multitenant database for cloud applications
- Oracle Exadata X3, which provides massive memory and a new one-eighth rack configuration for entry level
