Getting a Look at the Oracle Network Applications Platform

Oracle OpenWorld attendees have the opportunity to check out a range of demos throughout the conference, and thousands took advantage to learn more about Oracle technology. At the Oracle DEMOgrounds at San Francisco’s Palace Hotel, Oracle communications professionals examined the Oracle Network Applications Platform, the first industry-specific engineered system.

The Oracle Network Applications Platform combines Oracle’s Sun Netra 6000, Oracle’s Sun ZFS Storage 7320, Oracle Linux, Oracle VM, Oracle Enterprise Manager, Oracle Communications Service Availability Machine, and Oracle Clusterware software technologies, and can offer seven 9s service availability and unified platform management among other advantages.

With the platform, network equipment providers and communications service providers can accelerate time to market for new services by up to 40 percent and reduce platform integration and testing costs by up to 33 percent and operational costs as much as 64 percent. Accelerating time to market—and minimizing costs—is crucial for the communication industry, which is challenged by both explosive demand and intense competition.
