To Hack an Operator's Network

Kevin Poulsen of Security Focus reports the dramatic story of a hacker breaching the security of a major operator's network.

It is a long, juicy story almost worthy of being turned into a short play if not a full-fledged movie for the technorati.

It turns out that the chief investigator in the case was using the same network and had unintentionally released critical access information.

If you can read German, you may also want to take a look at a similar case of security breach in Germany, which also involves Msft.

This brings up the importance of maintaining fully independent communications networks with more stringent security policies which may be too onerous to the regular user but not so onerous to the enforcement agencies.

If you read a few of the other things I've written, you'll know why I'm interested in Poulsen's report.

True. Mobile identity and security issues are going to grow larger as mobile and the Internet world form a mesh.
