Shiraz, 2003

Shiraz 2003

In July 2003, I visited Shiraz with my family on holidays. I've finally posted all the digital photos from that trip on my flickr gallery. I also have some video clips which I might venture to post on YouTube later.

In the meantime, you can watch this low-resolution video of my younger daughter (then five) running in the courtyard where we took the photograph above.

Comments:

Some of the temples in your photos were so beautiful - so simple and filled with purity. I would be wonderful if you could label whose temples/shrines these were - which one was Hafiz, for instance? I'd love to go some day, though I suspect these pictures will be the closest I get...

You've motivated me David. I have added some more descriptive names to the photos. Here's a good start for the photos of Hafeziyeh or Mausoleum of Hafez.

There used to be a time when people could start in Istanbul and go through Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan to India. Now, the trip should naturally proceed to China and then back to the Pacific coast. Since the first 95% of this path had been open throughout about 99.99% of history, I expect it to re-open, this time more comfortably! In fact, there are many who traverse it on bicycles, on foot and cars these days.

Masood, A great photo titled Shiraz 2003. I have just made this my Background (on Windows -- probably a dirty word where you work). Ralph

Ralph - Thanks for the feedback on the photo... I'm sure the original artists would have never dreamed of their image showing up on a desktop ... but so it has thanks to you ... and it is a good tribute to their work!
