In Need of an Economic Strategy

Michael Porter, the business strategy guru from Harvard, writes about "Why America Needs an Economic Strategy".

His essay deserves a careful read by business and political leaders in the U.S.

Masood,
Did you see this Op-Ed piece by David Brooks on the Porter article?

Hi Ralph -

Good to hear from you, and thank you very much for the link to David Brooks' Op-Ed piece in The New York Times.

It is good to see Brooks reviewing Porter's article in BusinessWeek and getting hold of Porter for a phone interview.

Brooks' summary is quite good, particularly when it comes to Porter's suggestion for investment in Universities, R&D, training people--i.e., investment in people's skills.

Surprisingly, the review misses another point that Porter has made in his article, near the end of it: his call for greater investment in improving logistics within the U.S. economy.
