Human-Built World

Finally, we have a very well-designed little book that takes a broad enough view of technology to expose us to some of the key ideas we need when confronting deep social and intellectual questions regarding technology: Thomas P. Hughes, Human-Built World (2004).

The second chapter includes a discussion of the intellectual contributions of some whose views suggest "the long history of naive technological enthusiasm among Americans" and some others who had a more skeptical view of what technology could do and a more realistic view about what it was good for.
