Dinner for 11


What you see here is the dinner "sofreh," and in the black pots, we have "dizzy," a lamb-based stew with a special tradition for consuming it. You empty the soup and have it with bread. You then smash the stew solids (lamb, potatoes, beans, tomatoes) and have it with bread and fresh green herbs. This dinner fed about 7 adults and 4 children.

We were having a late night dinner at a restaurant near the Tehran central train station.
