Change 12c Default Domain Directory

If you don't like the default path -which pointing to the user's home directory- used to create the integrated Default Domain with JDeveloper 12c, you can customize it. Key is the jdev.boot file in ...\jdeveloper\jdev\bin directory. It contains an entry naming the environment variables used for customization:

ide.user.dir.var = JDEV_USER_HOME,JDEV_USER_DIR

This hints to two options: Either we define the location directly in the jdev.boot file or we set the environment variable. In addition, we can add a parameter to the JDeveloper executable. Here we go:

1. Edit jdev.boot:

ide.user.dir = C:\oracle\BPMQuick1213\my_user_dir

2. Set environment variable:

set JDEV_USER_DIR=C:\oracle\BPMQuick1213\my_user_dir

3. Add a start parameter to the JDeveloper executable:

jdev.exe -J-Dide.user.dir=C:\oracle\BPMQuick1213\my_user_dir
