Importing 'AJAX Grid' data to OpenOffice

Yesterday, while I was browsing a page with HTML table in Firefox, I had to do incremental search on HTML table's string data. The HTML table was not a plain one. It was a interactive one just like the one at the link below.

Unlike when I 'incremental search' on plain page, search in this HTML table didn't highlight the string. So, I wasn't sure whether the search was working. I needed to find another way of finding data. Viewing the source and doing search in it is one way. Another way is to import the table data in spreadsheet. I tried the latter with StarSuite Calc.

  1. 'Insert' -> 'Link to External Data...'

  2. Type in URL. Hit 'Enter'. Choose table name. Click 'OK'. I used 'Firebug' and 'DOM Inspector' to know how the table names were extracted. I couldn't figure out how. Anyway, for this page, I guessed that the last one will work.

  3. Interestingly, it imported all 139 rows. Not just the rows in the first page. I don't understand why but I think this is something obvious for web scripting savvy.
