Sun's new students site
By Jacob Kessler on Sep 19, 2008
I know that this is a bit off-rotation, but this is neat enough that I'm willing to make an extra blog post for it.
www.sun.com/students has just come up, and is an excellent resource for any students or educators interested in getting involved with open source projects, learning programming, or (for college students) getting a job, internship, or campus ambassadorship. Go open it in a new tab, right now, and look over it a bit.
Now, why is this so exciting, other than being a great resource? It's wonderfully centralized and organized. I'm a former student, so I know a fair number of college and high-school level computer science students, and previously I would have to say "well, you can go here, or here, and you might try here, and you should be able to get all the information that you want". Now, I can just point them at www.sun.com/students, and they will be able to get all of their information more easily. More information in less time is a good thing, and wandering all over the web looking for information is bad, unless you are doing an internet scavenger hunt and/or have too much free time on your hands.
