The following scheduled meetings and events are coming up this week:
SEC to Consider Guidance on Disclosures Relating to Climate Change.
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is scheduled to hold a public meeting in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, January 27, 2010. Among other items, the SEC is expected to consider a recommendation to publish an interpretive release to provide guidance to public companies regarding the SEC's current disclosure requirements concerning matters relating to climate change.

The Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) has scheduled a teleconference for Tuesday, January 26, 2010. The GASB will consider a pre-ballot draft of an Exposure Draft that would include in its literature standards issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants before November 30, 1989. For example, the GASB will discuss whether to include standards covering such topics as leases, capitalization of interest, real estate, lending activities, troubled debt restructuring, regulated enterprises, and industry standards -- including cable television, broadcasting, and mortgage banking. The GASB will also discuss the reexamination of GASB Statement No. 14, The Financial Reporting Entity.
