Congratulations to the Apache Directory Project

Congratulations to the Apache Directory Project on their recent 1.0 release, and also on their LDAPv3 certification. Both are significant milestones in their project. Of course, we want OpenDS to be the best directory server available (and we are improving quickly), but we certainly welcome the friendly competition. And in this case, it is particularly friendly. The ApacheCon conference happened to be in Austin, TX (where I and several other OpenDS developers live and work) this week and there were several Apache Directory contributors there. They invited us to a birds of a feather session with them Wednesday night. It was great to meet them, and we hope to work together with them in the future. There are a lot of areas in which we can collaborate, and I think that everyone can benefit from it.

Hi Neil !

I m' now back to France, and I have something to say about Texas, and USA in general : we french are specialist at bashing USA, and specially Texas, but we should first consider having a one week experience of Austin before bashing again : man, this was just a GREAT time we had there !

Ok, back to biz :) You are right , this was really a great Apache Conference, and we were really happy that we can make you guys. We definitively \*must\* collaborate, for the good of OSS, and users .

At least, I think that we already collaborated in the best way : we drank some few beers together, and played billard, and, well, you were better at this game :)

Longue Vie à OpenDS and ApacheDS, and let's make those guys get engaged and maried for the (likely) best and (hopefully not) the worst !
