Ever wondered, in an idle moment, how Publisher got started? Maybe not, but if you head on over to Ashish's shiny new Oracle blog you'll find out. Ashish recently moved back to India and then to a new (or old) team in Oracle Financials. Those of you that have met me have probably heard, several times, where my back ground lies. Ashish's is very similar, I might have a few years on him, inside Oracle and out and he definitely has more hair than I do but we go back a long way, to a small project called 'Financials Reporting Strategy.'
We both worked on a prototype with the Oracle Reports team to provide some means for the 'average' user to customize a report layout. I still have it on a drive and go back and fire it up occasionally and reminisce about the old days. Soon after that we were helping to build Publisher, the rest they say is history.
Get on over to Ashish's blog read it then bookmark it. Ashish is on the other side of the fence now, he's a customer, albeit an internal one, but will be sure to have golden nuggets of info to share and maybe even a glimpse of Fusion or three.

I have been struggling with positioning a table correctly for last two weeks and publisher always inserts extra rows.
Is there any way you make life a little easier i.e., not have to master xslt and xdo.

I am asking this question for an associate, since he did NOT know how to post a question to you in regards to a BI Publisher SSO issue he is having..
Here goes...
Installed products
OBISE1 (10.1.3.4), OAS, Oracle SSO, OID (used for LDAP authentication)
Existing Configuration
OBISE1 Server is configured to work with Oracle SSO and Oracle OID (LDAP) services and is successfully integrated.
BIP is configured with SSO and the Security Type is set up as “BI-Server”.
We followed instructions for SSO and BIP in the OBI Deployment Guide and also the BIP User Guide (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B40078_02/doc/bi.1013/b40017/T421739T475591.htm), and
Also, we applied the 10.1.3.4d patch to BIP and followed the instructions in the included document.
Problem description
We are able to sign in using SSO->OID->OBISE successfully. However, when we navigate to BIP using “More Options” from OBISE1 it gives an authentication error and failed to login to BIP.
The above configuration works fine when we disable SSO in OBISE1 but still keep the LDAP configuration in place in OBISE RPD Security option.
Also, when we invoke BIP directly using http://host:port/xmlpserver, it shows up SSO login screen and display the authentication error message.
Need guidance from Oracle Product support to configure Oracle SSO/OID with OBISE1 that works seamlessly with OBISE1 and BIP and allows uninterrupted navigation from “More Product” --- to BIP.
