BIP Mind Share

Well, I got back from some spectacular fireworks over Rushmore with the family last week, great camping, not so good fishing and some long hikes more info trickling out on to BanZel if you're interested.

The majority of requests I get from folks is, 'do you have a template for report X?' We now have a very exciting project getting off the ground here in development that I think is going to be a great resource for folks. I have spoken about it at conferences but there is finally some bandwidth to get the project moving.

Im talking about a 'BIP Reports Repository', I have to thank Terrance Wampler and Jake Kuramoto for championing the project internally without their determination and persistence I dont think it would have got moving at all. The idea is to provide a repository where you dear customer, will be able to get BIP objects such as RTF templates, data templates, etc from development, consulting both Oracle and non-Oracle, hopefully you'll share your own templates with the community.

One big happy sharing family; it will have an Apps 'bent' initially but Im pretty sure we can extend it for standalone customers. Standalone reports present a little more of a challenge when it comes to sharing. Within the Oracle Applications families (EBS, PS, JDE, iFlex, etc) the schemas are relatively fixed unless you have customizations - there is only a limited number of tables and functional areas you are likely to create reports against. So a shared template for your Application and the functional area you are interested in is likely to be useful.  On the standalone side you of course are completely free to create an extract and template against your application schema ... may not be so useful for others.

Would appreciate input from you all, thoughts, comments, ideas ...
