“I have stupidly agreed at 43 years old to take on another ridiculous challenge, I swore after the 3 Peaks that was it, and Golf was where the action would be.  Steve Wyper has dragged me out of retirement so here is the itinerary:

Day 1. A Marathon - Over Exmoor, that means Hills!!!!
Day 2. 9 Mile Kayak, a Half Marathon and finish off with a cheeky 30mile Cross Country Cycle track
Day 3. 26 Mile Cycle track

Apart for this being for a really great cause and a registered Oracle charity so whatever you pledge Oracle will match, I am doing this just to see Robbie Stapletons face as he finishes the challenge, that's worth £800 on its own.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now, Many Many Thanks”     David Tweddle.

A Huge Thank You!

“Just a quick note to say thank you all very much for your generous support of the charity gig a couple of weeks back.  The good news is that there was over €1,200 raised through ticket sales, raffle ticket and random donations. I hope everyone had a great night and of course, well done to Rita, Robbie and Paudie who put on a fantastic show!  Again, thanks to everyone for the fantastic support.”

Treasure Hunt – The Society of St Vincent de Paul

Congratulations to the Tech GB TDC’s and those who supported them on the treasure hunt run to raise funds for The Society of St Vincent de Paul. St Vincent de Paul helps families and individuals in financial and social difficulties and they also work with the sick and the lonely.

The Treasure Hunt took place on the afternoon of Friday, 6th of March 2009 from 2pm and involved 100 Oracle employees. Each team paid €50 to enter and teams were made up of four people. Extra funds were raised by the UK/WCE MIT teams taking sponsorship cards. Brigid Carley collected money from employees that were unable to participate in the event but wanted to give money to the charity. A total of €1,340.00 was raised on the day.  The treasure hunt ended at Howl at the Moon, where prizes were presented to the winning team and the runners-up.

2008 Activities – Thank You!

Tech GB CSL would like to say a massive Thank You to all those who have supported our activities over the past 6 months.  Since the Summer of 2008, Tech GB have been active in helping raise over 5,000 euro for charities across Ireland and the UK.  Well done to all!!

We saw that donating and helping others does not always have be monetary, taking some time out and just helping out is what makes CSL worthwhile. There have been many laughs, cheers, shouts, games, funny stories along the way and we will see lots more of it in 2009.

Donnycarney Youth Project – Christmas Party

The Donnycarney Youth Project strives to provide a safe and supportive learning environment for young people (aged 10 - 12 years) and adults in the community by promoting positive life choices. They aim to respond to local needs in relation to young people and to those affected by drug use. Donnycarney is situated on the north side of Dublin on the Malahide Road and Collins Avenue junction. On average about 120 service users attend the project on a weekly basis.

In December, Tech GB organised a Christmas party for the younger children. Tech GB donated a substantial amount of money which paid for the party which included a disco, snack box, presents and party games for the children to enjoy, musical chairs and limbo were some of the exciting activities. 3 representatives from Tech GB, Ramona, Lucinda & Brigid helped the youth workers with both pre-party organisation and the running of the event, they ensured that all had an excellent Christmas party.

December - Charity Month with Oracle Direct

December has been a busy month for Tech GB. We took part in the Charity Month arranged by Orace Direct and helped raise money for 2 very worthy causes.

Dublin Central Mission - approximately 2,500 people walk through its doors every week. Dublin Central Mission support the homeless and the elderly of Dublin as well as self-help groups who meet on the premises.

Central Remedial Clinic – Located in Clontarf, Waterford and Limerick, CRC supports children and adults with physical disabilities

The football challenge was our first activity, teams braved the freezing conditions  - there were thrills and spills, laughs, growls and threats but everyone made up afterwards  Of course the Tech GB supporters were the best and the loudest! We played a storm but were were not able to comeback when our competitors – the Apps team benefited from the rule that a goal scored by a female is worth 2 points.  Next year we will have to ensure we get more females on the team.
