[Sept 22 Update: Sorry, folks -- moving too fast. This certification covers only EBS 11i, not Release 12 as stated incorrectly in an earlier version of this article. Title and contents revised to refer to Release 11i only.]
OpenWorld 2008 has started with a vengeance. I estimate that in any given hour, there are 50 to 60 sessions going on simultaneously. In the midst of all of this frenzied activity I'm struggling to keep up with our announcements. Here's another certification (with more to follow later today): Oracle Single Sign-On and Oracle Internet Directory 10.1.2.3 have been certified with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i and 12.
At the risk of being pedantic about what's really certified here, I'm going to spell this out in detail. The OracleAS 10.1.2.3 patch set's full name is:
-
Oracle Application Server and Oracle Developer Suite 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) Patch Set 3 (10.1.2.3.0)
(released as patch 5983622, a.k.a. "OracleAS 10g Release 2 Patch Set 3")
This certification means that you can apply the Single Sign-On and Oracle Internet Directory components of OracleAS 10g Release 2 Patch Set 3 on top of your existing Oracle Application Server 10g 10.1.2.0.2 or 10.1.2.2 environments that have been integrated with the E-Business Suite.
Prerequisites
- Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i 11.5.10.CU2
- Single Sign-On & Oracle Internet Directory 10g 10.1.2.0.2 or 10.1.2.2
Certified Platforms
- Linux-x86
- Sun Solaris SPARC
- IBM AIX
- HP-UX PA-RISC
- HP Tru64
- Microsoft Windows
Certification on other platforms is still underway. I don't have a schedule for those certifications that can be published here, but you're welcome to monitor or subscribe to this blog for updates, which I'll post as soon as possible.

Hi,
I'm a little confused here.
Up until now and from every note I've looked into I understood that to upgrade the OID infrastructure EBS uses I should upgrade to AS 10.2.0.4.
What's the relation between those two versions of infrastructure?
Can one be upgraded from another?
Is one of them a "higher" version?
The whole versioning of AS products is indeed very confusing...
Thanks,

Hi, Leon,
Yes, I sympathize. It's confusing.
There isn't any such thing as "AS 10.2.0.4". The version number "10.2.0.4" probably refers to the underlying Oracle Database used by the Oracle Application Server 10g Infrastructure. There's a fairly rich certification matrix detailing various OracleAS Infrastructure vs. Database version combinations.
I'd hate to lead you astray without more details about your environment. The best option for you to get an authoritative answer that fits your specific requirements would be to log a formal Service Request via Metalink against Oracle Application Server 10g and have one of those Infrastructure specialists help you out.
Good luck with your implementation.
Regards,
Steven

Hi Steven,
I just have question about third-party SSO integration.
In our organization we have internal SSO system - not AD or SUN One.. and we would like to write our java plugin as it is documented in SSO documentation.
The only question we have is if this solution is certified with EBS 11i or we must use existing certified third - party solution.
Thanks,
Mariusz

Hi, Mariusz,
It's certainly possible to integrate other third-party authentication mechanisms with Oracle Single Sign-On (SSO). It sounds like you've already found the documentation to do that.
The Oracle SSO team supports those type of custom integration methods. If you have questions about how to do that, you're welcome to log a formal Service Request via Oracle Metalink against the Oracle SSO product.
The term "certified" has a very specific meaning: it's tested by Oracle in many different configurations.
We don't have the resources to test your custom integrations directly with the E-Business Suite, so I can't state that your custom code would be "certified" by Oracle. However, if your code works with Oracle SSO, then I'd fully expect it to work with the E-Business Suite.

Steven

Hi Steven,
I've made a numbering mistake in my previous comment and it seems you got me wrong because if it.
Obviously, there's no such thing as AS 10.2.0.4, I was referring to IDM 10.1.4.2 mentioned in note 233436.1 section 3.1 and previously in this very blog.
So I'd appriciate if you could answer my previously posted question with this version in mind.
Thanks,

Hi, Leon,
When you apply a given Oracle Application Server 10g patchset for components such as Oracle Single Sign-On or Oracle Internet Directory, you must also apply the prerequisite Infrastructure (or Metadata Repository) at the same time. These usually come in the same patchset. For example, the Identity Management 10.1.4.2 patchset contains updates for the Infrastructure, too.
If you're having trouble keeping the OracleAS patchsets straight, my OracleAS Support contacts recommend a review of Metalink Note 329361.1. If that doesn't clarify things, your next step should be to log a formal Service Request via Metalink to get an Oracle Application Server specialist engaged.
Regards,
Steven
