OK IBM consultants - strap in for an accelerated introduction to the Oracle Application Integration (AIA) Architecture Foundation Pack. Those of you that will be in the SFO briefing next week - we'll begin after lunch on Wednesday and wrap it up just before lunch on Friday.
Bring your laptops and be ready to hear how you can considerably jumpstart your clients' SOA initiatives while using the best practice methodologies and technologies we are using to develop the future Fusion Applications set of products.

Colleagues and legacy modernization experts Tom Laszewski and Jason Williamson have released a new book detailing the SOA enablement and re-architecting of legacy systems (think mainframes!)
I've gotten my hands on a copy of this much anticipated guide and will be reading it over. I'll be posting some reviews here but I encourage anyone interested in bringing their "legacy" systems into a SOA architecture to check this book out. Reading the description, it seems not only does this book go into the theory of modernization, but also provides hands-on examples. You won't find many people more knowledeable on the topic than Tom and Jason.
Congrats, guys! I look forward to reading the book.

PTS is rolling out 2-day training classes for our partners on Oracle Service Bus (formerly BEA Aqualogic Service Bus), BPEL on WebLogic, and BPM. Starting next week, I will be delivering OSB training with former BEA'er and product expert Steve Waterhouse and long-time PTS integration expert Lawrence Kikuchi.
This class will walk you through the product and its features. OSB brings a lot to the Oracle Fusion Middleware stack and leverages our new strategic application server, WebLogic.
I invite all Oracle Partner Network (OPN) members that are interested in attending OSB training - or any of the other classes I mentioned - to reach out to your OPN representative. If you don't know who to contact, drop me a comment and we can get you pointed in the right direction.
Have a great weekend.

I must say, Collab08 went really well. Since I was teaching and/or helping with the hands-on labs, I can't say I got to see much outside our bit, but the people I did see expressed genuine interest and a high degree of understanding of our Fusion Middleware for Apps initiative.
Additionally, I'd like to thank OAUG Fusion-council co-chair and blogger Floyd Teter for his evaluation of the E-Biz session in his ORCLville blog.
Each time we do these mini-sessions in a conference or in our full-blown 4 day boot camps, more people get excited about the apps integration story of the Fusion Middleware products.
For those of you that missed out - we hope to see you down the road. If you are a member of the Oracle Partner Network and either would like to attend one of our PTS bootcamps or even need help with a client project, drop me a line and I'll get you in touch with the appropriate people.
Thanks, Denver for a good time and even a little snow!

PTS Members to Present Fusion Middleware with Apps
I, along with several other members of PTS, will be in Denver this April at the Collaborate 2008 conference. We will be presenting 9 sessions on how to utilize Oracle Fusion Middleware products such as BPEL PM, JDeveloper, and Enterprise Service Bus with various Oracle Applications. Learn the basics and concepts to the creation of your client's or organization's SOA strategy.
These nine sessions will be broken up into separate classes focusing on either Oracle's E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft, Siebel, and JD Edwards.
These sessions will include a Fusion Middleware overview, demo, and hands on labs. If you are planning to attend the Collaborate08 conference I highly recommend these sessions.
If you were not planning to attend the conference, now you have a reason!
See you in Denver.

OFMW 11g Tech Preview Released within JDeveloper 11g
The SOA Product team has just released the SOA Suite 11g Technology Preview completely integrated within the JDeveloper 11g preview. That's right....one install. <This is me clapping. OK. I'm good now>
Right now your asking "How, Chuck? How do I get my hands on this software?" I'm glad you asked. Read on, my friends.
First of all, yes it is available for Windows AND Linux clients. You can download the software
HERE
You can't have software without
Documentation and Collateral
And you certainly would not expect any bit of enterprise software to work without
Prerequisite Software
Download. Install. DO THE DEMOS. And report back. This is what technology previews are all about. You get to see the new features in advance of a release for education and planning purposes and YOU get to tell Oracle what works and what doesn't.
Have fun. And I hope all of you had a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
