Here's another big release this week: the latest Family Pack H Rollup 6 for the E-Business Suite Release 11i technology stack is now available for download from Metalink.
The official name for this patch is:
In other words, this is the sixth consolidated rollup of patches released on top of 11i.ATG_PF.H. For the Oracryptoanalysts out there who like to track nomenclature variants of these things, this patch is also referred to as the Applications Technology Group (ATG) Family Pack H Rollup 6.
This Rollup patch is a collection of technology-stack patches that can
safely be applied on top of the ATG Family Pack H. This Rollup patch is
cumulative: all previous patches released for Family Pack H since the
initial 11.5.10 release, including Rollup 5, are included in this
latest patch. Rollup 5 is superceded by this latest Rollup.
Why Is This Rollup Important?
As with the previous ATG Rollup 5, we've spent a huge amount of effort both
within the Applications Technology Group and across the entire
Applications Suite to test and certify this Rollup patch.
Our focus for this latest Rollup has been to consolidate all known safe
defect fixes, performance improvements and security enhancements into
one well integrated and fully certified update. We also focused on
eliminating as many "co-requisite" patches as possible (application
product patches required to interoperate with new ATG Rollups), by
working to restore backward compatibility with earlier application
levels wherever possible.
Our standing recommendation is that all customers should make
plans to move to Rollup 6 as quickly as possible, especially any
customers who are not already at ATG Rollup 5.
Changes and Fixes in Rollup 6
Oracle Applications Technology 11i.ATG_PF.H.delta.6 (RUP6) contains Oracle Applications Technology (ATG) security fixes for core ATG products from the January 2005 Critical Patch Update (CPUJan2005) through the July 2007 Critical Patch Update (CPUJul2007).
The following core ATG products are included in 11i.ATG_PF.H.delta.6: FND, OAM, OWF, FWK, JTT, JTA, TXK, XDO, ECX, EC, AK, ALR, UMX, BNE, and FRM.
ATG Family Pack H Rollup 6 (11i.ATG_PF.H RUP 6, Patch 5903765) includes a range of new features and bug fixes for:
- Oracle Applications Framework (OAF)
- Oracle Application Object Library (AOL)
- AutoConfig
- Oracle Workflow
Oracle
Applications Technology ATG_PF.H RUP6 can be applied only to an
existing Oracle Applications Release 11i system running Oracle
Applications Technology Family Pack 11i.ATG_PF.H, which is included in
Oracle Applications Release 11.5.10. If you don't already have a
running Release 11.5.10 system, then you must first install the Oracle
E-Business Suite 11.5.10 or patch up to Applications Technology Family
Pack 11i.ATG_PF.H.

Steven, Just wondering when the documentation will be updated in regards to ATG RUP6. As of today Note:233436.1 still reflects RUP5.
We are currently on RUP5 and earlier in the year I had updated you with some of the issues we had with RUP5. Months later we are still finding problems and as a result we have not been able to implement the 10g AS integration in our production 11.5.10.2 environment.
We currently have the following SR's/bugs open:
1.) A Discoverer issue where we get a password expired error because it appears to be looking at the FND_USER settings instead of OID - SR 6492607.992
2.) A WebADI issue where there is a session authentication problem that prevented us from creating documents for GL journal entries - SR 6417705.993
3.)A Report Manager issue where the templates created only contain header information SR 6493287.993
4.) And recently I have found a Workflow issue that seems to be related to our integration and appears to be a session validation/authentication issue - SR 6526537.994
Each of these issues are with a different module - even though some of the problems appear to be related - and it has been difficult to get the analysts/developers to communicate with one another.
I am really hoping that RUP6 will fix some of these issues as our SR Mgmt is pretty frustrated that our implementation has been delayed for so long.
Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Dawna.

We upgraded also to RUP #5 and have had several issues after that. Mainly with Reports, Web ADI(fsg) and user administration.
Of course it can be said that this is because lack of testing but still quite worrying that applying it actually brought quite large amount of issues.
Would be good to have all rup #5 or any other patch related bugs linked somehow to the release notes.

Dawna,
I can appreciate some of your frustration. I would recommend that your firm engage with your Oracle account team to arrange for an Enterprise Support Delivery Manager (ESDM). ESDMs can help ensure that there's a holistic view (and possibly a coordinated response) across your multiple open SRs. They can also assist with escalations that span multiple SRs.
In the meantime, I'd recommend escalating each of these SRs separately. I'll also ask someone in our SSO integration team to take a look at bug 6406196 (linked to SR 6492607.992).
Note 233436.1 should have been updated concurrently with the ATG RUP6 release. I'm looking into what's holding that up.
Just a thought: this might be an opportunity to discuss conducting an E-Business Suite health check with your Oracle account team. If there's some central technical, operational, or business reason at the root of these issues, it'd be worthwhile drilling down into that.
Regards,
Steven

Dawna,
The team has just released an updated version of Note 233436.1 with the latest ATG RUP 6 information. Our apologies for the delays -- these Notes are supposed to be released simultaneously with the latest information. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
Bug 6406196 associated with your Discoverer SR has been escalated in the Applications Technology Group. The fix for this is under review now. I don't have an estimated release date for its release yet, but the Support Engineer assigned to your SR is now monitoring this for you.
Regards,
Steven

Simon,
I'm sorry to hear that you had some trouble with ATG RUP 5.
We try to ensure that the release notes for a given RUP documents all
fixed bugs as well as open known issues. If necessary, we can go back
and update the release notes for additional issues that are found in
the field following the initial release.
If you have a list of specific SR numbers with the details, please feel free to forward it to me. If appropriate, we'll make sure that we include them so that others can benefit from your experience. We'll also ensure that any open issues are tracked and rolled forward to be fixed in a future release.
Regards,
Steven

Hi,
Is it possible to install RUP6 on an EBS 11.5.9 ? We have a lot of customizations in our EBS system and nowadays itエs impossible to migrate to this new release. We have installed RUP3, but we have a lot of problems with this RUP version. We are thinking to apply RUP6. Thanks !

Sergio,
I understand your dilemma. Customizations tend to be very expensive to maintain for this very reason.
We haven't tested RUP6 with E-Business Suite 11.5.9. I don't have any sense of whether that uncertified combination would work. If you don't already have a running Release 11.5.10 system, then you must first install the Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10 or patch up to Applications Technology Family Pack 11i.ATG_PF.H.
Good luck with your upgrade.
Regards,
Steven

Is the 9.2.0.8 verison of the database a pre-requisite for this patch? Some of the documentation on the Patch 5903765 is confusing.

Mathew,
ATG RUP 6 is certified only with the 10gR2 database. We have not performed any certification tests with 9iR2 (9.2.0.8).
In case you missed my reply to your related question tagged against the other article:
We strongly recommend that all E-Business Suite customers upgrade to the 10gR2 database immediately. See this article for details about the latest 10gR2 certification:
* 10.2.0.3 Database Certified with Apps 11i -
http://blogs.oracle.com/schan/2007/04/10203_database_certified_with.html
The 9iR2 database is no longer supported in Premium Support status; see this article for details:
* Oracle 9iR2 DB Waiver of First Year Extended Support Fees -
