Workshop Season Starts Soon
I'm just in the middle of reviewing the content of our UK Fusion Middleware hands on workshop series for the next 6 months. Each year we run a series of free hands-on workshops, originally called "The 9iAS Experience" they have no morphed into "Oracle Technology Workshops" and cover both database and fusion middleware. These workshops give customers a chance to play with the software whilst getting assistance from experts in the product. You can take a look at the schedule of workshops here by drilling down into individual workshops and clicking register.
I'm currently reviewing the following workshops:
Java for Forms, RAD and 4GL Developers
Despite the title this is actually of wider interest to anyone who wants to play with a productive declarative approach to Java application development. This could equally well be badged the "Productive Java" workshop or the "ADF Workshop". It makes use of Oracle Application Development Framework which is also used in Fusion Applications. Attendees get to build a Java application from scratch against a database.
Advanced Java: EJB 3, JSF and Rich Internet Applications
This is the title I am actually reviewing this second - or would be if I wasn't writing this! It principally covers development with EJB 3.0 (ooh look, annotations!) and Java Server Faces (JSF). These are two areas in which Oracle has made significant contributions to the standards. This will use the latest JDeveloper with support for the latest versions of these key Java technologies.
BPEL Business Process Management
BPEL is always a popular topic and this workshop has been updated to use the developer preview version of BPEL PM, installed as part of the SOA Suite. The day also touches on ESB and some other components in the SOA suite, but the primary focus is building an end to end BPEL process using the Oracle BPEL toolset.
SOA Methodology
The tough part of SOA is not the technology, it is figuring out how to go about the tasks and even what tasks to go about. This workshop is not strictly speaking hands-on in the sense that it goes through an approach to implementing SOA in an organisation rather than detailing the products you need and how to use them, for that have a look at the other workshops. I am excited about this one as it is a completely new workshop that I think addresses a key pain point for people wanting to start down the SOA road.
Come and Join us
So if you based in the UK or Ireland why not check out the workshops available and come along and meet myself or one of my team.
