IdM Suite 10.1.4 Now Production

Oracle Identity Management Suite 10.1.4 Production

Well there is good news and bad news about Oracle Identity Management.  The good news is that Identity Management Suite 10.1.4 has been released to manufacturing and is now available on OTN for download.  The bad news is that it is still a bit tricky to navigate around all the different download components, partially due to some renaming.  So in the interests of sanity I present Antony's guide to the Identity Management Suite download:

There are 12 rows in the OTN download screen, but it is not as daunting as it first seems, not quite anyway.  Any customer is likely to start with just a couple of rows and add the other rows to their implementation over time.  With that in mind lets go through each row and identify what it gives you.

Oracle Identity Management Infrastructure and Oracle Identity Federation

There is a + sign next to this entry that if you click it expands to list all the components included in this line item. The short form is

  • Oracle Internet Directory (LDAP Server) and Directory Integration Platform (DIP)
  • Oracle Delegated Administration (oiddas) for end user LDAP administration.
  • Oracle Single Sign On (OSSO) for use in the Oracle world.
  • Oracle Certificate Authority (OCA)
  • Oracle Identity Federation (formerly Oblix COREid Federation) for federated identity.
  • Security Developer Tools, various toolkits.
  • Oracle Application Server (Infrastructure and J2EE and Web Cache)
  • Oracle Database

All this squeezes into just 2 CDs which is not bad going at all!

Oracle Access Manager

This is the product formerly known as COREid Access and Identity Manager.  It consists of the multi-vendor Single Sign-On Solution and the tools to manage that.  This has a large number of CDs, most of which are plug-ins for various web servers and app servers as well as lots and lots of language packs.  So if you want it in Hebrew with a Microsoft IIS front end and a BEA WebLogic back-end then you need disks one (Identity & Access Servers), three (BEA & IIS support) and six (Hebrew).

Oracle Identity Manager

This is the Oracle release of the provisioning tool that we acquired through the purchase of Thor.

Oracle Identity Manager Connector Pack

Here you will find the provisioning adapters for a variety of systems such as Microsoft Exchange, IBM RACF and SAP.  A list of adapters and their documentation is available online.

Oracle Virtual Directory

Why go to all the trouble of directory synchronisation when you can virtualise your directories, providing a single LDAP interface to multiple back-end directories, databases, etc.  This is the Oracle release of the virtual directory product we acquired from OctetString.

Identity Management Grid Control Plugin

As the name suggests this is the plug-in support for Enterprise Manager to allow you to manage your IdM components.

Oracle Enterprise Single Sign-On Suite

This is not yet available for download but will be the ESSO product that Oracle is OEMing from Passlogix as announced in June of this year.

GCC Libraries for Oracle Access Manager

These libraries are needed under Linux to support Oracle Access Manager and also Oracle Identity federation.  They are not needed for other platforms.

GCC Libraries for Oracle Identity Federation

This is actually the same CD as the one for the Oracle Access Manager.  Don't ask me why we couldn't have one line item for them.

Metadata Repository Creation Assistant

This is the tool to allow you to create a Metadata repository for use by the Oracle Identity Management Infrastructure.

Metadata Repository Upgrade Assistant and Utilities

This tool allows you to upgrade an existing Oracle Application Server Metadata Repository to the correct versions for this release of IdM Suite.

Documentation Library

Names says it all really, it covers all IdM Suite documentation and is just a link to the web based documentation.

So that is a quick run through of what all the different line items could do for you.  Hope it helped.
