Disk Crash!

This week I came to appreciate the value of Oracle Collaboration Suite. I tend to leave my laptop on in its docking station over the weekend. On Sunday evening I noticed that it seemed to have crashed. Rebooting it I discovered that the reason it had crashed was that the hard drive had died.
A week later I still don't have a new disk drive. Fortunately I have still been able to manage my E-Mail, Calendar and retrieve much of my data. Using Oracle Collaboration suite I have been able to maintain my calendar and E-Mail over the web. In addition I have been able to retrieve recent versions of much of my data and presentations because I store them on Oracle Files, a central database backed file store that allows me to access my files as network shares or via a web interface.
Without web based access to all my files and email and calendar I would have been even more lost this week than I was already.
All I want now is a new hard disk and I promise, cross my heart, that I will religiously back up the data onto files so that I lose even less data at my next hard disk crash!

Hope you don't have the same experience!
Antony
