Larry Ellison at JavaOne 2009

Larry Ellison spoke at JavaOne 2009, and a video replay is embedded below. If you can get by the jokes, you'll hear that Oracle is excited about JavaFX and the possibility of NetBooks.

Use Adobe Flex! Forget about JavaFX. Idiots...

javarulz:

No thanks Frank. Get some manners and a brain.While choice exists we'll combine the best server-side language with the oracle database ...add a new jvm and a slick client-side to it and you have the future all wrapped up...

Eric:

While Frank did call us idiots.. He brings up a good point. Adobe's Flex looks good and its going to suck up the market share for a while, BUT flex does have a limited scope. JavaFX has a very wide scope.

With the advent of netBooks and technologies like Google's new ChromeOS, there could be a surge in demand for more robust, capable languages that provide on-the-fly internet applications capable of generating nice UI...

Since Javafx stands on Java's unbeatable infrastructure, it has the potential to be very successful. Portability *WILL* be the future. I just hope its not too late!

@frank

Man, JavaFX Rules, Flex isn't like JavaFX!

Shut your mouth and go to your home, noob!!
