What Does PHP, OCFS2 & iSCSI got to do with Dogs and Linux World?

Waiting for OCFS2 to go production is I bit like my daughter on the drive out to Kansas to pick up a new dog - are we there yet ?
You might ask why drive all the way from Denver (9.5hrs), aren't there other cluster file systems - none like this one ;-) -- besides my daughter likes this one.

Last week at HQ I met with the Oracle's linux kernel team and the php team and was able to get the lowdown on the new technical content for Linux World and OTN night at OpenWorld.

*Oracle & PHP Installfest*
It starts off with helping people install Oracle 10gR2 on Linux. Thanks to Red Hat and Novell for donating the RHEL4 and SLES9 media. Note: you are welcome to take the 10gR2 software and try and get it up and running on you favorite distro, but then you are responsible for bringing your own media and installguides.

Then we get to watch Open Source Development Team during the 'OCFS2 Challenge' -- A 10gR2 RAC shared home, using a two node heterogeneous iSCSI linux cluster, in under 20min up and running. One of the interesting points about this demo is they show how you can turn a spare pc box into a shared storage using iSCSI that you can test RAC on. There will also be a Q&A with the linux kernel team around the new features of OCFS2 and Oracle on Linux in general.

We then close it out with the Oracle PHP dev team as they demonstrate best practices for Oracle & PHP, and how you can build on your investment in SQL, Java and BPEL while taking advantage of PHP's explosive growth and new functionality.

hope to see you there - Todd.
