Podcast: One-on-One with Tom Kyte

Today we published a new OTN TechCast (podcast) interview with the legendary Tom Kyte, and it's *packed* with great insider information about the origins of AskTom.oracle.com (including the very first question!), the technology/people behind it (news bulletin: there are no AskTom.com elves), and Tom's forthcoming new book.

Plus, Tom has some things to say (surprise!) about new features in Oracle Database 10g Release 2 he really likes, such as transparent data encryption. (Remember the credit-card database backup tapes that "fell off" a truck recently? TDE would have obviated any security risk, even in that case.)

A tip of my hat to the illustrious Tom Haunert, Oracle Magazine technology editor, for coaxing Tom into the podcast world and for his Charlie Rose-esque interviewing skills.

As always, you can access standalone TechCast MP3s or the RSS feed at www.oracle.com/technology/syndication/techcasts. Or, iTunes 4.9 users can access the TechCast page in iTunes here.
