Spotlight on Roel Hartman

saswinner.jpg Presenter: Roel Hartman, NL Lead Technical Architect Oracle, Logica
Session: Developing a Real-World Logistic Application with Oracle Application Express

Q. If you were going to Twitter a friend about your presentation, how would you describe it in 140 characters or fewer?
A. Visit session S301752 on how to use APEX for building a real application with a Forms-like user experience

Q. What's the one session you're not going to miss (other than your own, of course), and why?
A. Security: Writing Custom Authentication Schemes for Oracle Application Express (S301630) by Raj Mattamal. First, because the content is very interesting, and second because Raj is an unbelievably energetic presenter (during the presentation you’ll wonder if he can hold on to his speed), bringing his message while jumping around. I’ve seen this presentation during ODTUG 2008 and it was great!!

Q. What are your top three tips or tricks for attendees?
1. Don’t fill your content schedule to the max. If you do, you will be able to attend 25 sessions or so, but still miss 1675 others… It’s better to take some time walk around Moscone, visit the OTN lounge, go to an Unconference session, talk to the ACE’s and other presenters.
2. Don’t waste your time collecting swag in the Exhibition Area. Focus on the interesting exhibitors and Oracle DEMOground, and spend some time there.
3. Take some time to visit the city: Fisherman’s Warf, Alcatraz (book tickets beforehand), bike the bridge, etc. SF is great!

Roel,

Your session looks very interesting and with the right marketing could bring new developers into the APEX world.

Also, thanks for the tips about San Francisco... but the question is: is there time to do all that? :)
