Just in time for the gift-giving season, and at a price you can't beat.
A hot-off-the-press, free, 290 page, updated version of the Underground PHP & Oracle Manual is available for download from http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/php/pdf/underground-php-oracle-manual.pdf
One of my tasks after the ginormous Oracle OpenWorld conference has been updating the manual. The previous edition was released way back in May 2007. Since then, Oracle Database 11g and the OCI8 1.3 extension have been released, there have been various changes in PHP community, and I've simply just gathered more notes, examples and have more information to share. This edition is 50% bigger than the previous version. Download it and scan through to see the scope of the changes.
The manual still aims to bridge the gap between the multitude of PHP books and Oracle books on the market. It is still a "braindump" and in no way replaces any of the other PHP-Oracle books in the marketplace. They all cover different aspects of development with PHP and Oracle, and I encourage you to also consider them for your bookshelf.
My thanks, as always, to everyone who made this book possible including: OTN for helping me connect with the PHP community; Oracle development teams for their help with the core content; Sue Harper for the section on SQL Developer; my wife for the many home hours I lost working on this update; and not least of all my co-author Alison Holloway who not only helped write the book, but handled all the layout and publishing.
