This week DC PHP Conference. Next week Oracle OpenWorld

With the huge Oracle OpenWorld conference in San Francisco only a week away, it has been go-go-go here inside Oracle.  My inbox is being "aggressively filtered" a.k.a back-logged as I help prepare presentations, hands-on-labs and exhibition hall demos for PHP and Ruby on Rails sessions.  Teams from Oracle development and research centers around the world that contribute to open source development have been integral in creating some great content for OOW.

But this week I'll be flying over to the 2007 DC PHP Conference on the east coast of the USA.  This is the first time I've been across and I'm looking forward to meeting a bunch of new people.  I'm giving a plenary session titled "Next Generation Database Solutions for PHP". In anticipation that, like many PHP people, you attendees are mostly consumers of PHP, I want to open with an overview of PHP development and the expectations that can be made about PHP and databases in general.  I'll then focus on what Oracle does for PHP and some of the many, many things that the Oracle and PHP stack lets you easily do.

In other news that I'm still catching up on after a week of being totally offline while on vacation, there is an official Oracle wiki at http://wiki.oracle.com/ And Oracle Database 11g is out on Windows and 64bit Linux (in addition to 32bit Linux).
