Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.0 originally shipped with OracleAS 10.1.3 Oracle Containers for J2EE (OC4J) for running its Java-based content. Regular readers of this blog know that we certified OracleAS 10.1.3.4 with Apps 12 at the end of 2008, with additional operating system platforms following shortly afterwards. We've now certified Oracle Application Server 10g 10.1.3.5 OC4J with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12. You can upgrade to OracleAS 10.1.3.5 OC4J directly from OracleAS 10.1.3, 10.1.3.3, or 10.1.3.4. This certification allows you to upgrade the OC4J components in your R12 techstack to get take advantage of the latest performance and stability improvements in this incremental patchset.
Secure Enterprise Search 10.1.8.4 was certified with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.0 earlier this year. Our Applications Technology Group has just released their certification of Secure Enterprise Search 10.1.8.4 with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i and 12.1.1.
Oracle DB Vault allows security administrators to protect a database from privileged account access to application data. Database objects can be placed in protected realms, which can be accessed only if a specific set of conditions are met.
Database Vault 10gR2 was certified last year with Oracle E-Business Suite. We're pleased to announce that the latest Database Vault 11gR1 Version 11.1.0.7 is now certified with E-Business Suite Release 11i and 12.
You can now enable Database Vault 11gR1 on your existing E-Business Suite 11.1.0.7 Database instance. If you already have DB Vault 10gR2 enabled in your E-Business Suite environment, you can now upgrade to the 11gR1 Database. We also support EBS patching with Database Vault 11.1.0.7 enabled. Our DB Vault realm creation and grants-related scripts have been revised to reduce patching downtimes.

Oracle Advanced Security is an optional licenced Oracle 11gR1 Database add-on. Oracle Advanced Security Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) offers two different features: column encryption and tablespace encryption. We certified the TDE column encryption feature with the E-Business Suite last year. We're pleased to expand our 11gR1 Database certification to include the tablespace encryption feature. This option was recently certified with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i, and now Tablespace Encryption 11.1.0.7 is certified with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.
What is Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) ?
Oracle Advanced Security Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) allows you to protect data at rest. TDE helps address privacy and PCI requirements by encrypting personally identifiable information (PII) such as Social Security numbers and credit card numbers.
TDE is completely transparent to existing applications with no triggers, views or other application changes required. Data is transparently encrypted when written to disk and transparently decrypted after an application user has successfully authenticated and passed all authorization checks. Authorization checks include verifying the user has the necessary select and update privileges on the application table and checking Database Vault, Label Security and Virtual Private Database enforcement policies.
Existing database backup routines will continue to work, with the data at rest remaining encrypted in the backup. For encryption of entire database backups, TDE can be used in combination with Oracle RMAN.
Our E-Business Suite Applications Technology Group released a new product, the Application Change Management Pack (ACMP), and a new version of their Application Management Pack (AMP) for Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Release 4 earlier this month. They've just followed this up with a new certification with Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Release 5.

Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.1 was released several weeks ago. We're pretty excited about this release and strongly encourage everyone evaluating R12 to consider 12.1.1. However, if you're still building test environments on the 12.0 codeline, you should be aware that a new Rapid Install startCD has been released for Apps 12.0.4. The latest startCD is available for immediate download:
Oracle Secure Enterprise Search (SES) 10.1.8.4 is now certified with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12. If you missed our late-2007 announcement about this certification, here's a recap of the basics. Secure Enterprise Search (SES) provides new search capabilities for R12: Apps users can search for E-Business Suite data using a unified search engine, with search results displayed based upon their Applications responsibilities. Searches can be performed on structured and unstructured data. Notably, search results respect multi-level security, including:

We're continuing to fill in the platform gaps for some of our recent techstack certifications. We certified Oracle Application Server 10g 10.1.3.4 with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 in December, 2008. The two exceptions to that certification at the time were for the IBM AIX and HP-UX Itanium operating system platforms.
HP-UX Itanium was later certified in January 2009, and now we're crossing the IBM AIX bridge. IBM AIX customers running Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 may now upgrade to OracleAS 10.1.3.4 OC4J directly from OracleAS 10.1.3 or 10.1.3.3. This certification allows you to upgrade the internal OC4J components in the R12 techstack to take advantage of the latest performance and stability improvements in this incremental patchset. To make sure that there's no misunderstanding about what can be upgraded, the full name of this patchset is:
We announced our certification of Oracle Single Sign-On and Oracle Internet Directory 10.1.4.3 with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i and 12 a few weeks ago. The only exception to that certification at the time was for Apps 12 running on IBM AIX platform.
We've completed that certification now. IBM AIX customers running Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 may now upgrade their external Single Sign-On and Oracle Internet Directory components to 10.1.4.3.
The Oracle 11gR1 Database version 11.1.0.7 was certified with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i last December. I'm pleased to announce that it's now certified with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12, too. 11.1.0.7 is the first database patchset available for the 11g Release 1 Database version 11.1.0.6.
For those of you planning to upgrade from Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i to 12, this means that the database releases for Apps are back in parity. You can upgrade directly to Apps R12. from whatever 11gR1 database release you might be running with your Apps 11i environment -- 11.1.0.6 or 11.1.0.7.
Here's a great way to end the year 2008 for Certifications with EBS: Oracle Database 11gR1 version 11.1.0.7 is now certified with E-Business Suite Release 11i. 11.1.0.7 is the first database patchset available for the 11gR1 Release 11.1.0.6. Customers can upgrade to this version following the Notes listed in the Documentation section.
Another airport stopover, another eagerly-awaited certification announcement. Nice to do something productive while I'm sitting here waiting for my flight to be called. I'm pleased to announce that Oracle Application Server 10g 10.1.2.3 is now certified with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12. Specifically, the following OracleAS 10.1.2.3 components are now certified for external integration with Apps 12 environments:
I'm still on vacation but can't resist posting about new certifications from my team. Michael Armstrong-Smith has been diligently (and correctly, of course) reminding EBS users that they should hold off on upgrading to Discoverer 10.1.2.3 until it's certified with the E-Business Suite Release 11i.
The wait is over: Discoverer 10.1.2.3 is now certified with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i 11.5.10.2 and higher.
Accompanying my announcement earlier today about Single Sign-On and Oracle Internet Directory, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to hear that OracleAS 10.1.2.3 may now be applied to Portal 10.1.4 environments that have been integrated with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i.
OpenWorld 2008 has started with a vengeance. I estimate that in any given hour, there are 50 to 60 sessions going on simultaneously. In the midst of all of this frenzied activity I'm struggling to keep up with our announcements. Here's another certification (with more to follow later today): Oracle Single Sign-On and Oracle Internet Directory 10.1.2.3 have been certified with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i and 12.
I'm pleased to announce that Database Vault 10.2.0.4 is now certified with E-Business Suite Release 11i and 12. For more details about Database Vault and how it works in E-Business Suite environments, see this article. This new certification brings improved performance and broader certification coverage for additional operating systems, too.
Oracle E-Business Suite Application Technology Group (ATG) is pleased to announce the availability of the Application Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) version 2.0.2 Rollup update. This pack is available through Oracle Metalink, as patch 6809246.
I'm very pleased to announce that Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i is now certified with 10gR2 Database version 10.2.0.4.
Catching up on some certifications made during our blogging hiatus, here's another important platform announcement: Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 is now certified on IBM AIX 6 (Version 6.1). Note that new installations of EBS R12 on AIX 6 require...
