Oracle Recruiting Web 2.0 Week...by Jan Ackerman

This week the Oracle JAPAC Recruiting team will begin our Web 2.0 week. The past few months we have had extensive training on some of the latest and greatest Web 2.0 technologies that exist out on the www and this week we are going to practically apply our learning's to discover the web from a new vantage point. The training covered many topics from blogs, Boolean search techniques, wiki's and a host of collaborative technologies to share and work with others. The culmination of this comprehensive training is a week of exploration and team work to practically apply the classroom training into innovative learning's and discovery.

We have divided our JAPAC recruiting team up into several groups and each group has selected a specific topic to explore. We have industry focused groups exploring the likes of Tax and Utilities, Retail, Financial Services and Health Sciences, as well as technology teams pinpointing areas such as Hyperion, Peoplesoft, ERP/CRM and Identity Management. In addition, we have teams exploring specific roles such as Sales and Consulting. These groups will use their new founded Web 2.0 techniques to scour the Web and learn more about the marketplace and understand better ways to communicate with our greater Oracle populous.

Our goal is to bring together diverse individuals from the region who can collaborate together and delve deep into the Web with their newly learned skills, for some practical experience, thus allowing them to strengthen their understanding of the power of using these tools to help them in their daily recruiting efforts. Teams have decorated their work areas and are very excited to embark on this fun filled week the culmination of which will be a presentation of their findings to the Sr. Recruiting Management team. The week begins on Monday June 22nd and we are all eager to get the JAPAC WEB 2.0 Week kicked off to a productive start!

I'm part of this initiative. Its appalling to see the enthusiasm, team involvement and research that's going on for the presentation next week. This will make us trendsetters in the recruiting arena.
