One area of Oracle IRM that isn't so well known is the ability to protect the HTML based interface of a web application. Because Oracle IRM supports both HTML, GIF, PNG and JPEG formats, it enables you to build rich web based UI's that have all the advantages of security and auditing that comes with IRM.
Another aspect of this type of use is that not only can you seal information that the web server has access to on disk, but also you can seal information in real time, in memory. For example imagine your web application talks to a database and builds, on the fly, a list of customers and their sensitive information such as addresses, social security numbers etc. Oracle IRM can take this data in memory, encrypt it and deliver back to the browser in a fashion where the client workstation cannot copy the HTML content, take screen shots nor print the information. All this can be embeded into the rich UI of a common web application.
