Just released is a new version of the Oracle IRM Desktop. This release contains only a few minor fixes, mostly for problems related to supporting new platforms and addressing interoperability with other vendor software. The IRM desktop has a lot of complex security code and often this can run into problems when other security, especially IRM, software is installed on the same machine.
Support has been added for Adobe Reader 9.1 and Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 so that sealed PDF, HTML, GIF, JPG, XML and PNG can now be opened using these environments. Compatibility with BlackBerry Enterprise Server 4.1.6 MR4 has also been added which also means that previous versions of BlackBerry Enterprise Server are no longer supported.
This release also contains a few bug fixes that some customers have requested. These fixes are largely in the areas of Excel macros and clashes with products from other IRM vendors. It is however a fairly minor release, and we do not expect most customers to upgrade to it.
You can download the new IRM Desktop from Oracle Technology Network. For more information please see the release notes.
Note that this new client is backward compatible with the server. So if you wish to take advantage of the changes in the IRM Desktop you only need to upgrade your clients, no server upgrade is required.
