Many ways to securing content with Oracle IRM

As part of the launch of the new YouTube channel, I created a simple walk through of the many ways in which sealed content can be created. One challenge an information rights management technology can have is how to ensure content is protected and correctly classified in the first place. Integrating IRM with technologies like DLP and content management systems can remove the burden and risk of this choice from the end user and automate it. However Oracle IRM has many tricks up its sleeve which provide simple mechanisms for protecting content correctly.

  • Oracle IRM can protect Microsoft Office templates so that new documents based on these templates are already classified to the correct classification, information never exists in an insecure format.
  • Integrated menu's into Microsoft Office so that when a user is saving content, they can choose the classification directly from within the application used to create it.
  • Simple integration into Windows explorer to allow users to seal files and folders of files with an easy right click.
  • Hotfolder software which monitors local folders or network file shares for new documents and automatically protects them against a pre-defined classification.

Watch a video of this functionality in action on our YouTube channel or just hit play below.

Tomo

We've just uploaded the software to the new Oracle sample code website, there is a blog article about it here. http://blogs.oracle.com/irm/2009/09/oracle_irm_hot_folders_now_in.html
