Earth Day is less than one month away.
Spring has Sprung.
Regardless of where you stand on warming, ice caps, trees and carbon sinks, some things just make sense. Saving money by reducing the costs of printing is one way. Reducing emissions by using electronic distribution rather than shipping documents is another. Reusing assets rather than recreating them...the list goes on.
Unfortunately the politicization of the "green" meme has polarized much of the environmental discussion. That's why I give props to AIIM (Association for Information and Image Management) for their new Green ECM initiative. The tangible, bottom line benefits are something businesses will immediately understand. That the solutions tread lighter on the earth is something we can all understand.
Whether we're hugging a tree or wise-use advocates it's something that makes sense.

I agree, it seems like the word Green means two totally different things: one is about saving money buy using less of things that cost money, the other is about believing that your actions are changing the climate for the worse.
I am the first kind of green. I am interested in saving money so i turn off lights and do things more efficiently to use less energy. But I don't spend much of my time fretting that my actions are warming the planet.
