Why isn't Enterprise Search like Internet Search?

Another well-thought out article by Bex here.

It's very important to understand these distinctions because our clients and users generally don't think about these things like we do. They just want it to work - but they haven't thought about the fact that what they want and how it should work is fundamentally different.

Google is, as Bex points out, terrible at finding one particular thing in the whole wide interwebs - I know, I try and fail often!

As a bonus, I also learned what I am - a Maven. I like it; it sounds somewhat dark rather than geeky. I imagine Mavens to look something like John Travolta from Battlefield Earth, rather than the reality of most of us sitting at desks looking at multiple monitors or reading incessantly.

For an organisation is Enterprise Search a big oppurtinuty. Like you said google just can''t find one particular thing and Enterprise Search can.
