I just got wind of a cool new feature for Oracle UCM that Oracle Partner Fishbowl Solutions has whipped up. It's called subscription notifier (details HERE) but don't let the name fool you. While it starts with Oracle's built-in subscription's capability, it is really a lightweight message queue. This makes system to system, event triggered service execution convenient by tapping the SOA of UCM and using the UCM event/service system itself as a messaging hub.
While UCM can notify people on the basis of the expiration of a file, the Fishbowl Solution (no pun intended) taps the entire event architecture and leverages it as triggers. It then taps the subscription (notification) service to message whatever target(s) is/are configured. This effectively creates a lightweight message queue running inside the UCM process. Pretty cool for easy orchestration and integration of systems.
