A Cool Success Story

I don't usually pimp sales wins on the blog here but I thought this one was cool. It's not the world's biggest organization using Oracle ECM. It is a real life, nuts and bolts story of how the Forest County Potawatomi (Wisconsin) is using the software to create real efficiencies in the governance of their Nation.

The are using UCM and IPM and Document Capture to move from a paper and filing cabinet based system to an electronic system. Sometimes the simple and profound shifts are eclipsed by the glitz and glamor of the trends. But things like saving postage costs because you move to electronic distribution, things like saving the cost and time of calling extra meetings because you couldn't find the paper document you need during the meeting are the foundation upon which the shiny new Web 2.0 - enabled applications rest. Without those savings, there would be nothing left over for further innovation.

That's why I think the Potawatomi deal is cool.
